Celebrating the life of
Richard James Puljung
October 12, 1943 - March 19, 2026
It is with profound sadness and deep love that we announce the passing of Richard (“Rich”) James Puljung on March 19, 2026, surrounded by his loving family and now at peace with the Lord.
Rich was born on October 12, 1943, in Brookfield, Illinois, and made his home in Savannah, Georgia. He proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Army.
Rich was a beloved father whose life was defined by selflessness, generosity, and an unwavering devotion to his family. He was the person you could always count on, no matter the situation. As a father, he was truly one of a kind—supportive, patient, and endlessly caring. His kindness extended far beyond his immediate family, as he was always there for others, especially those experiencing loss or hardship. He also opened his heart and home as a dedicated foster parent to six children.
Rich is survived by his partner of 18 years, Patricia Tucker; his brother, John Puljung of Western Springs, Illinois; his son, Erik (Natalie) Puljung of Savannah; and his daughter, Heather (Nick) Voelker of Charlotte. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Clementine, Duke, Davenport Puljung, and Nixon Voelker, who affectionately knew him as “Gramps.” His love leaves a lasting imprint that will continue to guide and comfort his family, who will carry his memory and spirit with them always.
A graveside service will be held on April 18 at 11:00 a.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Savannah, overlooking the marsh. followed by an open house reception at the home of Erik and Natalie Puljung.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to PACK Savannah.
